Our 26th annual ABC 7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk is going VIRTUAL this year! Join us from anywhere in the world June 18th through June 21st to support world-wide blood cancer research and Team Penny's Angels/Susan's Squad. Registration is only $26!

This year's virtual event offers the unique opportunity to participate even if you are not in Chicagoland area or available on a Thursday night in June. You can now be a part of finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma and MDS, while staying healthy and social distancing. Most importantly you can get out and have fun! Depending on your schedule and the weather, participate anytime in the 4-day window of June 18th to June 21st (Father’s Day). Get the whole family involved and walk together! All runners and walkers registered by June 18th will be mailed a Virtual ABC 7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk T-shirt.

Where can I run/walk?

Anywhere! This is your virtual walk/run and we want you to complete it where you want. Choose a sidewalk, path, treadmill - make this event your own. Walk with your family, run by yourself, bring your dog, or your jog stroller. It's up to you! Please tag @gibbons5k in your photos and use our hashtag #TogetherItIsPossible.

Our amazing team raised nearly $13,000 for this event last year and we hope to keep the momentum going! Please share this page with anyone that would be interested in joining our race team or fundraising to put an end to blood cancers.

Who we are:

Penny’s Angels is a chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation, founded by family and friends after our mother passed away from leukemia (AML) 20 years ago. Since forming, our chapter has raised nearly $250,000 to help the LRF (https://www.allbloodcancers.org/) fund research for blood cancer studies and provide support to families touched by these diseases.

Major medical breakthroughs continue to energize our team, but the fight remains as urgent as ever. Our inspirational Aunt Susan (Penny’s Sister) was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2015 and underwent a successful stem cell transplant four years ago. After her daughters and friends teamed up to create Susan's Squad, our fundraising numbers and sea of purple shirts continue to grow!

We cannot thank you enough for the ongoing support.
